  2. (c)2001-2005 Alexander Barton,
  4. ngIRCd is free software and published under the
  5. terms of the GNU General Public License.
  6. -- README-AUX.txt --
  7. Since version 0.2.2-pre Apple's A/UX belongs to the officially supported
  8. platforms. It is not restricted in any way.
  9. Since version 0.5.0 ngIRCd's source compiles with the native A/UX c
  10. compiler. GNU C isn't a must-have anymore.
  11. The following software packages are needed:
  12. - GNU sed
  13. Source:
  16. A/UX comes with /bin/sed which isn't supporting all functions needed
  17. by GNU automake/autoconf.
  18. Warning: When installing GNU sed please make sure that A/UX doesn't
  19. use the old one anymore which means set the $PATH or replace /bin/sed
  20. at all.
  21. - libUTIL.a
  22. Source:
  25. This library contains functions that are common on other UNIX
  26. systems but not on A/UX e.g. memmove(), strerror() und strdup().
  27. After installation of these packages just do a "./configure" and "make" to
  28. compile ngIRCd on A/UX.
  29. A few hints in case of errors:
  30. - Either there's an 'install' on your system which is completely broken
  31. (so 'configure' uses its own shell script) or use a fully functionable one.
  32. There's at least one binary "out there" causing problems. The one
  33. of the GNU fileutils works fine:
  35. - The precompiled binary of the old 'bash' shouldn't be installed within
  36. /bin (better do this in /usr/local/bin) because 'configure' would
  37. choose it as its shell which wouldn't work.
  38. - Because of limitations of /bin/sh on A/UX it can't be used to create
  39. the 'config.status' script. Better rename /bin/sh to /bin/sh.AUX and
  40. replace it by a symbolic link to /bin/ksh (ln -s /bin/ksh /bin/sh as
  41. root).
  42. These procedure should'nt cause you into problems and is recommended
  43. even if you don't use ngIRCd.
